What Is a FastDL Alternative for Instagram Reels?

By DownSta · Updated October 29, 2026.

DownSta is a FastDL alternative for saving public Instagram Reels, videos and photos in your browser. Both use a paste-link form and offer quality choices. FastDL also advertises an address-bar shortcut; DownSta uses its website to show previews and let you choose the media to save.

The main difference is how you get to the results

FastDL's shortcut lets you put its short domain before an Instagram address and go to its download page. If you use that shortcut often, it is a practical reason to keep using FastDL.

With DownSta, open the website, paste the Instagram link and press Download. You can then preview the returned media and choose a file and quality. Bookmarking DownSta keeps that form handy on either your phone or computer.

The sites have a lot in common. Both describe a browser workflow with quality options, so a different interface does not by itself mean a sharper video. DownSta is another option if you prefer its result controls or want to try a public post that did not download through FastDL.

Trying DownSta when FastDL has not worked

Start with the original Instagram link. If you copied a FastDL shortcut or result address, return to Instagram and copy the post or Reel link there instead. Paste that into DownSta, load the results and choose the media you want.

Another service may be able to retrieve the post, but a failed request does not always mean the first website is down. A deleted item, an expired Story or an incomplete link can cause problems whichever tool you use. The troubleshooting guide helps you check those cases.

If the file already downloaded but is missing from Photos, check your browser's Downloads folder first. You may only need to move it into your photo library. Our phone download guide explains that step.

Which option is more convenient?

Choose FastDL if its shortcut is part of how you browse and the downloads meet your needs. Try DownSta if you want to work from its preview and file-selection screen. For an eligible Reel on your phone, Instagram's own Download button is another option; see our native download comparison.

For a useful comparison, save a Reel you own or have permission to keep and play the actual files. Compare the picture and sound you receive, rather than assuming either site's quality label guarantees a better result.
