Available Quality for Instagram Photos
Instagram serves photos in multiple resolution variants depending on the original upload and the viewing device. Photos uploaded in high resolution may be available in several sizes. DownSta displays these variants and lets you choose the one that best suits your needs. The quality options you see are exactly what Instagram provides for that specific post.
- Original or highest available resolution. When Instagram exposes the source file at its full resolution, this option will be marked as recommended.
- Medium and standard resolution variants. Instagram may generate resized versions for faster loading on mobile or slow connections. These use less data but have lower pixel dimensions.

Differences Between Feed Photos, Story Photos, and Profile Pictures
Instagram serves photos in different contexts, and each uses a distinct URL format. Feed photos use the /p/ URL format and are permanent posts on a profile. Story photos use the /stories/ format and expire after 24 hours. Public stories may be accessible without login if the profile is public and has active stories. Highlight photos are saved stories that remain accessible through the /stories/highlights/ URL format as long as the creator keeps them on their profile. Profile pictures are part of profile resolution and are returned when you submit a profile URL.
